Television Maldives (state owned television broadcaster and the one and only Maldivian TV station in it’s first 28 years since 1978) has a youtube channel. It is a great way to send government propaganda to Maldivians abroad.
A senior staff of TVM also has a personal youtube channel (mondhuasif) which he mainly uploads TVM produced videos. Around 7 hours of video on his channel sums up to over RF 6,000 if purchased from TVM’s archive at their RF15 per minute rate. Good monetary contribution from a staff in the last two years.
I hope he paid the bills if not I know of a political party who is willing to pay for him, for the great propaganda he’s doing on his personal channel.
My advise is for Champa’s DhiTV and Gasim’s VillaTV to do the same.
On Friday evening Gayyom’s Energy, Water & Environment Minister was kicked out of H.Dh Kulhudhuhfushi, one of the so called developed islands of Maldives. Minister Ahmed Abdulla was questioned by the people of the island for the promised sewerage system which the government has failed to implement for the last 3 decades.
Gayyoom is the only person who has been attending international conferences on Environment as a leader of a country for the last 30 years. This has made him somewhat famous in international forums as a dictator who has been green washing the dictatorship.
His long term buddy the Environment minister could not keep up the promise of providing a safe sewerage system for the islands. For the last 30 years, every five years just before the election, Gayyoom’s government promises the islanders with dreams. Gayyoom being the only presidential contestant allowed each of these times wins. And the promises are left until the next time. Anyone who complains get tortured in the infamous Dhoonidhoo Torture Center.
This time it has happened again. Environment Minister Abdullah can attend international forums and act as he is doing his job and ask for donations. And through corruption some international organizations give funding to him, which is used mostly for their personal use.
On Friday he was forcefully kicked out by the people of the island. Too bad. The next day 29 people are taken to the torture center. There is internal pressure on this regime. And there is external pressure as well. Dictator is under a lot of pressure. People are really angry with him. All wearing red as a symbol to show their anger towards him.
The anti-corruption board was established by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom in 1991, but was itself accused of corruption in November 2007
Little bit of Maldives, the real Maldives!
Maldives receives The Best Tourism Publicity Awards around the world. Undoubtedly the notorious Hill and Knowton hired by the rulers of Maldives are doing a great job! Witness the sunny side of maldives!
Two Haveeru articles contradicting each other about the Dhivehi Quran translation.
On 24th February 2008: http://haveeru.com.mv/?page=details&id=64608 Dhivehi Quran translation already printed and the first 10 copies handed over to Gayyoom.
One month later on 24th March 2008: http://haveeru.com.mv/?page=details&id=65831 Final proof has not yet been presented. So printing has not been started.
Read both articles for details.
Novelty printers who has been printing most of Gayyooms government publications along with the weekly Dheenugemagu for the past few decades may also be invoved in this lie.
Faith Fighter is the ultimate fighting game for these dark times. Choose your belief and kick the shit out of your enemies. Give vent to your intolerance! Religious hate has never been so much fun.
Is it just a mere coincidence that on his first few months of presidency the dictator Gayyoom declared 10th December as the Maldivan Fisherman’s Day? Or is this part of a larger ongoing plan to deceive Maldivians by distracting them from the Human Rights they have been deprived of?
For the last 3 decades the government and its media loudly celebrates 10th December as the Fisherman’s Day without even a single mention of the International Human Rights day which is systematically concealed. (UN mission in the Maldives is also to blame for this.)
Fishermen are one group of people whose rights are most neglected in this country. So pressure Gayyoom and his failed gang to step down immediately.
This morning I woke-up and checked email to find this youtube link in my inbox.
This song I presume is made by some of the current CHSE students. They should be below or around 18 years of age. I give them a round of applause for their work and effort. Specially for the video. It is very good work. Music is great too. Very raw energy. Cable TV, pirated mp3s and great talent.
The lyrics are very strong, patriotic and political. I can somewhat relate this song to the ‘Gaumattakaa’ movement. To be ‘Minivan’ fight until the last breath like the heroes of pas, who fought against the dictators. (not necessarily colonizers).
